Your day in 140 secs of less

$25K award for the audience winner

This was the competition organized by Nikon for videos, “Your day in 140 secs of less” for videos recorded with a DSLR camera. The prizes were quite astronomical ($100K for the judges winner and $25K for the audience winner), highlighting the interest of these companies to promote the use of DSLR cameras for video.

I personally find the trend quite interesting, as it can extend the reach and possibilities of both still photography and video. With multimedia devices now coming along (phones, tablets, etc) it should be easier than ever to mix exhibitions of both still images and video together to enjoy at galleries, museums and of course at home. If you like to peruse the videos you will notice that some of them – e.g.  the audience winner, as in this post-, look similar to video shows of still photography, where the composition, the color, the light and the sequence is as important as in a series of still photographs.
