Robert Hooman … and a turn into “The Best Camera”
Robert Hooman is a photographer located in New York that just recently made his jump to build a career professionally. I browsed his online portfolio and I liked a lot what I saw. Of all the series, one named Editorial 3, gabbed my attention the most. It is a reportage of Brooklyn native, Former Marine and Vietnam war vet John Miciko, who spends many hours everyday tending to his hobby of Pigeon Couping. The photograph illustrating this post is from that series. I love the composition and the texture that the pigeons create while flying (read more at his blog). Robert made a promotional video with more than 1000 still shots showed a a video clip that is an interesting way to see his style of work.
In his online gallery you will also find an interesting series taken with the iPhone. A trend popularized by Chase Jarvis and embraced by many who found the imperfections of the iphone a feature rather than a limitation. This leads me to mention that Chase Jarvis has recently founded “The Best Camera” a new online community where people can share images taken with the iPhone. The Best Camera is the one you have with you when you see something beautiful to photograph. I would say that The Best Camera is the one that allows you to play so you can free up your creative muscle by doing what you are not supposed to do. This is the exploration of possibilities and this is the real feature of the iPhone, allows you to try without the fear to screw up. Quite cool, indeed.

Miquel,
The expression is Former Marine, not Ex-Marine. Once a Marine, always a Marine.
It is a reportage of Brooklyn native, ex-Marine and Vietnam war vet John Miciko, who spends many hours everyday tending to his hobby of Pigeon Couping.
Thanks very much. Corrected.
