“Night only suggests things, it doesn’t fully reveal them. Night unnerves us, and it surprises us with its strangeness.” -Brassai
The mystery of the night, the dramatic light, the large negative space of darkness that forces strict compositions to make the image work. Todd Hido looks into the night to capture images of unique presence and mystique. Playing with natural light he also creates very emotional portraits and landscapes, as game that appears to extend his passion for moody images.
