Muge

The work of Muge, a photographer located in China, is absolutely wonderful. His photographs are a delicate representation of what stands in front of the camera, raising the subjects to be more interesting that – perhaps – they are.

His images create a sense of inclusion, so that the viewer becomes familiar with the subject, even when unknown, and by doing so it appears to be part of our same biography, the unfamiliar becomes familiar.

Muge has been photographic most at his hometown and picturing the people living there. This is a city in China, Chongquin, in the Three Gorges area in China, the area where the biggest hydro-electric dam in the world was finished in 2008. This is an area that has experienced rapid change in the last years. Because of that, Muge’s work has become both an artistic representation of the present and a memory of what it was in the past.

His website runs quite slow [probably a problem of the remote server] but I hope the sample images here provide you with a reasonable idea of his work.
