UnCritical Mass by Liz Kuball and the photography of Douglas Stockdale
In case you missed this excellent post by Liz Kuball. If anything, this post highlights the extraordinary vibrance and excellence of contemporary photography. And while we are on the topic, don’t forget to take a pick to the list of the 180 finalist of perhaps the most important fine art contest in the USA, Critical Mass. This a time of abundance of extraordinary photography, now the challenge is to find mechanisms and programs that allow these photographers to prosper in a highly competitive area.
Among those photographers that did not make the final list, it is my pleasure to link to the work of Douglas Stockdale, and his extraordinary series Re:development-China. I had the pleasure to see some of his prints before and I was very impressed. I have one of them that I cherish. Doug’s work highlights a beautiful sense of space, patterns and relationships that you need to see in the prints to fully appreciate. Many of the images in these series have the quality to stand very well as single pictures, but Dough did an elegant work relating the pictures and creating a pattern of relationships in triptych series.
