Ending extreme poverty: a historic opportunity for our generation

Today is Blog Action Day: Poverty, a day to share our common responsibility to reduce poverty. A responsibility that has become an obligation, a challenge and an opportunity for our generation. Societies that are trapped by the misery of extreme poverty define hell on earth. Life becomes a fight for the most elementary needs, life becomes constrained by lack of resources, lack of health care, famine,  lack of education, poor governance and violence. It is time to change that, it is time to give a hand to the ones that need a pull out of the trap of extreme poverty. Day by day, action by action, one by one, step by step, for the first time in history, our generation has the opportunity to end the gap of wealth created in the last generations, to eliminate extreme poverty, hunger, and disease.

If you are a reader of this blog I invite you to do something very simple but significant, to be part of the Blog Action Day movement. Visit “Nothing but Nets” and donate $10 dollars to purchase a net that will protect from malaria up to four family members for four years. Up to 3 million people die of malaria each year and a simple protection with treated nets will reduce the prevalence by up to 80%. A simple and effective way to contribute today.
