Mat Blamires and personal work as the identity of commercial photographers
Often times the work that I enjoy the most of commercial photographers is their personal work. I guess it is because it reflects their own vision and it feels more real, no constrains by the demands of the assignment, no need to overwork the image. I believe that personal work is a very important aspect of the identity of any commercial photographer and it is a key asset that should be utilized more aggressively in marketing campaigns and certainly there is no excuse to not display it more prominently at online galleries. Still, most often, commercial photographers show little of their personal work and I can’t understand that approach.
These are two samples of the personal work of Mat Blamires, a commercial photographer located in New Zealand. His commercial work is excellent for the purpose but I what I love most is his personal photography. These few urban landscape images that are part of his personal work, are displayed at the landscape and architecture gallery in his website. These are the images that will make me remember his work.
