A new edition of Sleeping by the Mississippi by Alec Soth

These days are quite busy for me. I just returned from a trip, I am quite overloaded of work, and I am starting a workshop tomorrow. So I have less time to post, but I promise I will try to catch up soon. Keeping the blog takes discipline -and time- and sometimes requires to twist a bit the schedule for other obligations.

On the topic of blogging, today I read at A Photo Editor a Q/A with Alec Soth regarding the reasons he stopped his highly followed blog from one day to the next. It seems that it was not about lack of time but about consequences and responsibilities -and grief- associated with expectations about his blog. Intriguing but very understandable.

Speaking about Alec Soth, I like to make you aware that a new edition of his first book, “Sleeping by the Mississippi“, has been printed and is now available. I just received my copy yesterday, and it is one of the books you want to have in your collection. Believe me, even when I am biased about Alec’s work, this book is one you don’t like to miss. In just 4 years after the first print it has become a classic.

  1. Thanks for the heads up, I have been wanting this book for years but unfortunately could never afford the original version. I am so glad they’ve republished it.
