Remain in Light: a new effort to promote the work of emerging photographers

Date February 4, 2008

It is my pleasure to pass along some information about a new project, "Remain in Light", organized by photographer - and blogger- Shane Lavalette and Karly Wildenhaus, a student at the Arts Institute in Chicago who also runs an interesting blog [Shades of Time] about photography. The project is called "Remain in Light" and will be a periodical publication of images submitted by photographers and released in volumes. Interestingly, the publication will have a different format. It will not be published as a magazine or book. Instead it will be a collection of a limited number of images printed in cards (size to be determined, but probably not longer than 8x10 inches). The initial volume will have 16 images, each from a different photographer, and selected to form a series with cohesive aesthetics. It seems that the different volumes will not be restricted to specific themes. The prints [cards] will be enclosed in a specially designed slipcase.Volume No.1 is open now for submissions to photographers interested in contributing recent work. Although there is no economical compensation for the images submitted, you may get broad exposure to your work if your images are selected. The deadline to participate in Vol.1 of this publication is March 1st of 2008, and they request a submission to include 5-10 different images in JPG format or a link to your online portfolio. It is my understanding that only one image will be selected from each photographer/submission.My best wishes to Shane and Karly for the success of this effort.
